AC Shadows Unveils Unexpected AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that challenges usual predictions, Ubisoft has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Revealed
According to the formal release, "A strange confrontation pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where whispers of banned practices and terrifying metamorphoses resonate through the darkness." The storyline features a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden cult.
The adventure centers on "peculiar trials and a terrifying foe" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Transformations
The teaser features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview ends with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the prisoner, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Extra Material
Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an special katana together with multiple artifacts secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Addition
This patch also introduces the game's third complimentary story episode, titled "The Mystery." This humorous adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe debuts a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime series. The series formerly featured a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly included a quest that unmistakably echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
